Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How are you making a Space Jam Musical? Aren't you worried about the fact you don't have the rights to the Space Jam IP

A: No we have no association with Warner Bros, but we're not doing anything we shouldn't. The show is a non-profit fan parody. The only thing we're charging for is ticket sales, and that will only reimburse us a fraction of the production costs (hiring the theatre, paying our actors, crew, and freelancers). We're actually paying a lot of our own money to make this, virtually none of which we'll ever see again, and we adamantly encourage people to go and purchase the original film before seeing our show.

We worked with a solicitor when writing and producing the Space Jam The (Unofficial Parody) Musical, and made it from the ground up with absolutely 0 content taken from the original film barring a few throwaway references and very occasional overlap with dialogue for the sake of parody. Other examples of musical parodies out there include:

Unfortunate - The Untold Story Of Ursula The Sea Witch

SAW The Musical

A Very Potter Musical

Twisted

Stranger Sings

Q: How are you funding The Kites? Do you make money doing this?

A: For now The Kites is purely a product of our time and labour, as well as our own personal income.

We've taken out loans and spent a lot of money from our full time jobs to make our dream come true of opening our own theatre company. Our goal is to get to a place where we can one day make our own original productions as a full time job, and though it's not entirely clear what that will look like yet we're looking into crowdfunding, grants, and other ways we can start to turn our passion into a career.

Q: What's with all the ???

A: We have 4 main productions we're working on, and we plan to reveal what they are over the next few years. Space Jam The (Unofficial Parody) Musical is the first of those 4 main productions, we plan to do many more smaller shows, concerts, videos, and plenty of other content in between each main production.

Q: Can I hire you?

A: Please do! We would love to help you on your production. Our forte is writing original songs, but we can also develop original theatre and experiences for your needs. We can also share our knowledge with you. We have extensive experience in music and video production, and would be happy to help you and your team fill any gaps in your knowledge, particularly in ways you can apply that knowledge to theatre and live events.
